What really is the gospel? Jesus came preaching the gospel and they sought to kill him. If the gospel is such good news, then why would you want to kill the messenger. Maybe there is something more going on than meets the eye.

What is True Biblical Worship
Are we required to worship in the New Testament church? In the early church they met in homes, not temples. I believe our modern concepts of "worship" and "sermon" have kept the church powerless to face today's challenges of society that are set before us. Instead of engaging in the problems, we have reduced it to escapism theology.

Why didn't Jesus take on other religions and destroy them and pick them apart. I don't think God called us to destroy other religions. Jesus has invited us to demonstrate and announce that the kingdom of God is here. He has called us to witness to the crucified Christ and the power of God that is present in the risen and resurrected Jesus. Jesus says to go into that village and demonstrate and then announce!

Amos depicts for us a powerless nation and a powerless church. Nationally they can point to their strongholds (citadels), but when the enemy surrounds, your strongholds are plundered. Amos is still speaking to us today! Why is the believer and the whole church powerless? Has God lost His power? Where the church is powerless, everything is powerless. When the house of God falls, no house can stand.

The Prophet Isaiah tells us that God's intention isn't just to bring you back from Babylon and exile, but God wants to bring you back from exile and to restore you to such a place, that by the way you live, you become light to all Gentiles. Jesus comes on the scene, and he is telling them that their original calling was to be light to the world.
Even now, you are still being invited to return from exile and be light to the world.

Consider the church in Amos's day. It was desperately needy and was threatened by the imminent displeasure of God. It lacked true knowledge, true spirituality, true repentance. It was full of corruption. It had departed from the truth. It was proud, complacent, self-satisfied. It had set itself on a pedestal and despised the world. God didn't send revival, he sent them a prophet!

 What if salvation is not "go to heaven when you die."
What really is salvation? What does it look like in the real world? Jesus goes to the people who claims to know God and he confronts them with their lack of obedience, hard hardheartedness, indifference and says, "Return and Be!", because the message is about flesh and blood people stepping in to their God given destiny. Jesus wants to save us from thinking we are the moral police of the world.

The Prophet Amos Part 5 Vengeance of the Covenant
  Israel had comfortably forgotten "the vengeance of the covenant" (Leviticus 26:25), the jealousy of God at work within the confines of His chosen people, to discipline unto greater holiness and purge out evil. God still loves us with unconditional love, but that doesn't mean we are exempt from the consequences of going against the grain of love. When we live against the grain of love, we suffer the brokenness of self-inflicted suffering. This is the wrath of God.
