This is a message that comes to us now, in this world as it is at this very moment. There's a question to us. Is it possible for us to have an anchor for the soul while we are in this world? Is it possible for us to live in this present evil world and yet be at rest and to know a peace that passes understanding? That is exactly what the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is offering today!

We are looking at Isaiah's prayer from chapter 63:7. The bible makes it clear that we need instruction on how to pray so we don't indulge in vain repetition. Always you'll find with these recorded prayers there is always a system and not just rambling prayers, but there is a definite arrangement and order. Prayer must always begin with a realization of God and his character.

This assurance comes in three main forms, the full assurance of faith, full assurance of understanding and the full assurance of hope. The great theme of the Epistle to the Hebrews is the question of the full assurance of hope. He's telling them that if only they would put the same diligence as they do in these practical matters into this matter of making sure of their hope, then all would be well with them.

This is a vision given to the prophet. A glimpse of the ultimate person in order that he might not faint but continue and also his fellow Israelites to continue in waging this great fight of faith. It was given to encourage him and strengthen him. It's why I'm calling your attention to it Today! We have need of encouragement in the fight in which we are engaged!

Hebrews is a letter written to both encourage and warn the hearers to continue in the faith and don't draw back. These Hebrews were under tremendous persecutions and wondering if it was even worth it to continue. Some had become lazy and are still babes yet the writer says they still have so many advantages.

I have set watchmen upon the walls! This message is so needed today! It's a call to arms, to gird ourselves with the armor of God. The church it seems has been overcome by a spirit of defeatism. She has become sluggish and filled with a sense of despair. We find Isaiah looking at his situation when it's at it's worst, and in the gracious promises of God, showing how he reacted to such a situation and what he called the people to do.
