In this lesson we will briefly look at the Feast of Passover, Feast of First Fruits, and Pentecost. When John announced Jesus as the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, he was pointing to him as the Passover lamb. He used Passover symbolism in order to point out the Lord Jesus. We don't celebrate any of the other feast today. All those feast disappeared when Jesus died and rose again, but the Feast of Passover. We have the echo of it every time we take communion. This feast joins us together and reminds us that we are the continuum of the covenant people. We are the Israel of the New Testament.

Prophecy and the True Israel Part 1

What does the Bible mean when it uses the term "Israel"? Who is an Israelite? Go back to the beginning, Israel began in the loins of Abraham. What does it mean that Israel was chosen? What was it that God put into the heart of Abraham that brought forth the Israelite nation. Basically it was a call to a mission. He was specifically chosen in order that, through him, ALL families of the earth should be blessed. God never chose one family just to choose them and say "Now you're special". God chose one family in order that all families might know his blessing. Jesus is the wrapping up of Genesis 12. From Genesis 12 to Matthew 28 is just one long continuing line. The Glory of Israel is here, therefore go to all the nations! It's not a new religion, just the continuation of the faith of Abraham.

Faith is the beholding of God in the face of Jesus Christ and saying "Yes" and "Amen". "That's who you are and it's beyond my comprehension!" How shall I respond? What shall I respond with except trusting in you and resting in you with thanksgiving that you are who you say you are. To give thanks is the ultimate "Faith" response to who God is.

Jas 1:2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, Jas 1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
What does the Apostle James mean by this, that we should count it all joy when we encounter trouble? James goes on to tell us about God, that he is the Father of lights and that we are begotten with the word of truth. He goes on to tell us to be slow to anger and don't forget who we are in Christ. Then he tells us to bridle our tongue and warns us not to become contaminated with the world. As we take a closer look at these verses and also Psalms 46, I hope this helps us further understand what it means to live and walk in faith.

John 14:2 ... in my Father's house are many abiding places... This is a statement of the fulfillment of the Jubilee in Christ. The proclamation that is in Jesus Christ is for every person to return to his dwelling places. We have come to return to our inheritance that was lost in Adam. We've now found our particular dwelling place within the land which is the Holy Spirit, where all our debts have been dissolved and all our slavery is over. We are free!

2 Cor 5:17 to 2 Cor 6:3
This is often used as an evangelical appeal to unbelievers, but Paul is writing to believers at Corinth. He is showing to them all that they now have in Christ Jesus. It's one of the key passages to understanding our faith by which we live in the fullness, this life that is in Christ. Now - in this moment - he is with you - in you - now is the time of our acceptance. All his covenant promises are yours.

Whenever a Hebrew heard the blowing of the silver trumpets, he knew that his God was with him, the Lord who was his strength and fortress. Then the silver trumpets were blown every new moon. They came right along side of the burnt offering at the new moon and blew the silver trumpets over the burnt offering. As if God was saying, "The Lord demands you to look at this offering." Look at this offering and pay attention to what is happening. On the Feast of Trumpets, the 7th new moon, they blew the silver trumpets all day long and the read aloud for all to hear Psalms 81.

The whole of faith is to recognize, acknowledge, be present to the fact that He Is! When I see that He Is in this Now moment, when I see the fullness of all that he has done in Christ - Is Now! Then I can say, "Let it be!", the phrase of faith. God works by faith. In creation God didn't shout into nothing saying creation should be, but rather Let. Out of the fullness, the unlimited potential of who he is, he gently released it. Let it Be! Let that which is - be - Become.

In this lesson we will be looking at the feasts and especially the Sabbath. The Sabbath goes back to creation when God contemplated his finished work. He worked six days and on the 7th he rested. That is, he contemplated what he had done and he contemplated it with satisfaction. All that he had done was good so he rested satisfied. There was nothing that could be added, nothing should be taken away, it was perfect, complete. Everything that man would ever need and all that would ever glorify God was there. So God rested, it couldn't be better.

Faith is one of the most illusive, difficult words in the Christian vocabulary. Mainly because it's a word used by the world found in the self-help section of the book store. There has been a mixture in the Christian world of the self-help and the bible. So there is a lot of confusion over the word, Faith. It's become a word that causes a lot of confusion, a lot of struggle that produces shame, despair and guilt. Faith is portrayed as something to get. So let's see where faith is in our Christian life!
