Prayer Strategy Part 3

  Often times when we pray for someone, we want to discuss hat they are doing with God. He knows so we don't need to gossip. Prayer begins with the truth. This person is in Christ, he bears the mark of the finished work, he is the focus of the Holy Spirit's activity. They need to see that and the mess will fall away.   Paul says he is "making mention" of us in his prayers. Paul wasn't just name dropping, he was "doing a remembrance". To "remember" to a Hebrew is "to do". To "make" means the intention to produce something that was not there before. Paul had a prayer strategy, therefore he was "doing a remembrance" or "making mention" of us in his prayers. Most of the time we pray off the top of our heads and we re not prepared for it nor do we understand it. Then it's forgotten and comes back as unspoken request.   God says to "ask". When you "ask" you are declaring the flesh was crucified with Christ, the lie is not true and you have entered into the humility of Jesus. Yet we ask with Boldness. To dare to walk boldly into the presence of God and ask in line with the wealth that he is. To do so without any fear that I'll say the wrong thing. What is this working out/dynamic of "knowing the Father?" He brings it into one word, "Ask". "Asking" is not some odd thing you do only when there's a crisis. "Asking" is the beating heart of this relationship.  Psalms 2:6 This is the ascension. God says to the Son, come and sit where you belong as my co-equal. Your name is Lord. I've brought you out of death. You've conquered creation and brought it out of death and brought it back to us. Now, you as human, as man, ask of me and I'll give it to you because it's yours. That's what prayer is, joining with Jesus and sitting down at the right hand of the Father and in sync with Jesus asking for what belongs to Jesus and receiving it. When you really bear fruit, you are revealing into the world who the Father really is. The Father is the gardener and he does the cultivating. Why? So the very life of Jesus is produced in our lives called fruit. The fruit is to be eaten and enjoyed and shared with others. Fruit means the life of God, the love of God is coming out through you to others so they can be nourished with the very life of God. Taste and see that the Lord is Good!
