The Good Shepherd Part 2

In this episode we will be taking another journey through Psalm 23. There are times, the Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not want. Then there are those "other times" when he drives me into the paths of righteousness for his own name's sake. When he says that you can't stay where you are, you've got to grow up and sometimes in that process you've got to be exposed. Your own rebellion got you into the mess. But don't think you're going to be the first sheep that's going to mess up his reputation. Don't worry, he'll get you there, he's got his methods. That method has a name. They gave him a name when he was born. Thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins. He's got two sheep dogs to keep you in line. They are called Goodness and Mercy and they will hunt you down all the days of your life. The Good Shepherd Part 1

The Shepherd had been used to describe the relationship of the Lord to Israel. They always knew God was their Shepherd. The word "shepherd" needs to be defined because it doesn't mean in the bible what it means in America. The bible shepherd gave his life for the sheep, it wasn't a part time job. We will be taking a closer look through the eyes of David as he wrote Psalms 23. The Debt Part 2 Forgiveness

  There are many misconceptions concerning forgiveness. Forgiveness means to send away. It's not the absolving of their sins, it's not a pardon. That is between the person and God, to whom their ultimate responsibility lies. We must distinguish between forgiveness and reconciliation. We forgive the child molester but we don't ask them to baby sit. When we forgive we are sending the person away and releasing them into the hands of God, the only righteous judge. In doing so we are choosing to no longer be that persons judge. The Debt Part 1 Sin

Jesus said when you pray say, "forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors." The debt is sin. So what is sin? Sin in it's root is broken relationship. We were created for relationship with God. Jesus came to pay the debt, meaning he came to restore the relationship. It wasn't God that needed to be reconciled to us it was us that needed to be reconciled to him. God in Christ came to show that what ever we would do to him that he would never stop loving us and pursuing us. Make Sense Out of Life Part 4

  We hurt so we find people to dump on. We swap hurt stories, hashing and rehashing, wallowing in it like pigs. We are paralyzed by the grief, the pressure and the pain. We want God to wave the divine magic wand and take it away. Then we get the miserable comforters who tell is if we had enough faith then it wouldn't have happened. When nothing happens frustration sets in. Paul experienced this and prayed three times for God to take away the thorn. In the midst of Paul's frustration God spoke. Make Sense Out of Life Part 3

 The events of life are the moments out of which something is coming, taking shape, being birthed. If I am abiding in Christ, I am declaring that out of this moment that it is God himself that is coming out of it. God himself is being revealed in the person of Jesus Christ. He is being revealed. Each event of life is a spiritual event in which I am meeting with him who is life. In that event he is coming out of it. God in the face of Jesus is coming out of that event, yet it looks so ordinary. In every event he is coming out of that event and I am going into hat event. That's the way time works. So each event is a new uncovering of him.  When God became flesh, all he did was so ordinary for 30 years there was nothing to write about. Here we are with the eternal God, who chooses to be among us as an unknown peasant. Why would he do that? He joined us to turn the human race around. Jesus came as you. He assumed the human race. He, as us, sought the Father, called upon the Father, forsook the whole of Adam's legacy. Jesus didn't only die for you he repented for you! Exodus Part 10

 The Israelites are coming to Sinai. They have passed through the wilderness of Sin to Rephidim and they had no water. There was a great thirst and they complained. What do you do when you feel like complaining? As soon as they get water from the rock the Amalekites attack all the faint and weary from behind. They are a restless, exhausted people, on the verge of Sinai, which was the object of their journey and they are attacked by a descendant of Esau. God's ways are not our ways, his thoughts not our thoughts. God who is love made u that we might be included into the relationship of the trinity by gift. We were created to join the God family by grace through the action of the Son, Jesus. But we believed the lie and walked away from God. God says I'm coming to get you. He is going to take our humanity and with human choices, bring us back to God. He's going to take human feet and walk God's pathway. He didn't show us the way he is the way. Exodus Part 9

The Israelites have just crossed the Red Sea and just finished singing their great psalm of praise, celebrating being delivered from Egypt and entrance into the land assured. From there the Lord led them into the wilderness he called a very terrible place. Understand it was the Lord that led them there, but why did the take them through such a wilderness? God leads us into some strange places in order to train us in our faith. He wants us to grow up and that's exactly what has got to happen.
