The Blood Covenant Part 11
Friday Oct 20, 2017
Friday Oct 20, 2017
Our repentance doesn't move an angry, insulted God to grant forgiveness. Rather we are greeted by intense passionate love that ambushes us, to which we respond in repentance. If Jesus is alive from the dead then we are forgiven. Forgiveness and all the blessings of the covenant don't come to us merely through Christ but in Him. We don't receive them only because he earned them but by our being united together with him and in him, members of his body by the Holy Spirit! Baptism and Holy Communion
Tuesday Oct 17, 2017
Tuesday Oct 17, 2017
The act of repentance and faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ comes to focus in water baptism. Baptism was the right of iniation into the new covenant. Circumcision was used in the old covenant. At the center of worship is the meal of the covenant where we meet with God and partake of his death and conquering life and are embraced by his love and participate in the covenant promises. In this lesson we discuss the covenant meal. The meal is at the heart of the covenant. Every covenant ended with a meal that declared that the covenant was valid and now functional in the lives of the parties to it. Jesus said "Do this in remembrance of me". To understand the meal we have to understand the word "remember". How can remember if we wasn't there? Break Up Your Fallow Ground Part 4
Tuesday Oct 10, 2017
Tuesday Oct 10, 2017
We've been breaking up fallow ground, cultivating the soil. Why? So when you get how you came in to this world straight, understanding that you are here by the very determination, purpose, and intention of God. God intended for you to be drawn into his love who is the person of Jesus Christ himself. When we get that understood as to what was happening, then we are preparing the soil that we can trust him today. Our trust doesn't begin today. It begins in knowing that he has been with me, drawing me from the very beginning. The Blood Covenant Part 9

To submit to Jesus in the Gospel demands we turn away from all that we falsely believed to be the meaning and way of life. The bible word is called repentance which means a radical change of mind. It's the realization that all of my life has been wrong because it has been lived from the wrong center. It's not repenting of a certain sin but a change of mind about oneself, realizing I don't know the way of life and I now recognize it as death. The real issue now is not sin. Jesus has dealt with sin once and for all. The issue is whether we will accept the divine amnesty and let him send away our sins and be reconciled to God. People have a life long search for the reason of being, the meaning of life. Unless we understand the love of God then nothing makes sense. So we try to make it make sense and buy into the worlds ideas of meaning. But it's an imitation of nothingness which the bible word for that is death. It becomes the world of the living dead. People have a death wish saying "if this is life I'd rather be dead." Even if they don't say it their actions speak with drug abuse and alcohol abuse or sitting in front of the TV staring into nothingness. We know there is a point and there is a meaning for us being here. That word is called life. Jesus came that we might have life! God's faithfulness is the out working of his covenant oath. He didn't need to swear an oath in order to bind himself to keep covenant. His covenant is the means of revealing to us who he is. Understanding the oath of God takes all the pressure and tension out of life and introduces us to the rest of God. The whole burden of the covenant promises is upon God. Instead of laboring to exhaustion trying to please God, we live in the rest of faith in his faithfulness. How can God let us have free will and wreak the havoc that we do and yet at the same time be achieving his purpose? This gets complicated to our brain. There is a story that gives us a picture of how he does this. It's the story of Joseph. Sin cast man out of the Garden. Man could no longer enter the glorious presence of God. Not because God didn't love them but because their sin placed them in a relationship to God that would cause their destruction.
